Summary: Coalinga Hospital – Secure Treatment Facility is one of Bergelectric’s largest completed projects to date. This very sizeable electrical contract was completed for a state psychiatric hospital intended to treat repeat sexual offenders. Construction of this 1,500-bed Acute Care facility began in November 2002 at the edge of the Coastal Mountain Range in the city of Coalinga, California.
Designed by Kaplan McLaughlin Diaz, general contractor Hensel Phelps Construction undertook the 1.2-million squarefoot project on its 320-acre site. Bergelectric teamed up with Ted Jacobs Engineering Group to provide the 45 one-and two-story buildings with a central plant, site infrastructure consisting of 12 and 5kv electrical and communications distribution and four 5kv diesel generators. Special systems include voice/data, fire-alarm and SCADA systems. The project had an astounding 15,000 light fixtures installed. |
