Summary: The facility was a design collaboration by Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Partnership and Opus Architects & Engineers and was constructed by Opus Northwest to adhere to GSA and EPA requirements. It was important that the project support and demonstrate the EPA’s mission to protect human health and the environment – in addition to meeting the Silver Certification level under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program.
The design includes such energy and health considerations as high-performance glazing and building-envelope design, external solar-shading devices, CO2 monitoring and ventilation and carbon-monoxide-controlled parking ventilation, as well as a wealth of energy-efficient lighting devices.
