Summary: Over the past two decades the Army Corps of Engineers ( COE ) has added more than nine million-s.f. of facilities at Fort Bragg to serve the Division’s growing needs and eliminate outdated facilities. The $28-million construction for this project yielded a new barracks building and five headquarters buildings on a 70-acre site.
With a Division as large as the 82 nd Airborne’s, and headquarters spread out in five separate buildings and over 266,000-s.f., mass communications was essential to smooth operations. In addition to electrical power installations for each building, Berg was responsible for the tel-data backbone and site communications duct bank, along with fire alarm, mass-notification, A/V and lightning-protection systems.
