Summary: Graceville Correctional Facility is a new medium – and close-security prison in Graceville , Florida . The $65.5-million facility was designed by SchenkelShultz Architecture, a firm that is continuously ranked by Engineering News Record as one of the top-ten justice-design firms in the United States . The 300,000-s.f. facility includes three 400-bed housing buildings, a 300-bed dormitory building and a 76-bed segregation building.
With only three months scheduled for design and 15 months for construction, Berg had to hustle to detail and prefabricate the precast concrete panels. In addition, Berg installed multiple electrical systems designed by Matern Professional Engineering, plus five generators, lighting systems, a complete fire-alarm system, raceways for security, tel-data and CATV systems, along with grounding for the perimeter fence.
