Summary: The Lake City Correctional Facility added on three new cell-housing areas, while also remodeling the existing kitchen. The new additions, which opened in March of 2005, increased the facility by 90,000-s.f.
Berg was responsible for providing all power to the new areas, as well as two emergency – power generators, lighting and lighting control. Berg’s detailing department played a large part in the coordination and layout of electrical systems, designed by TLC Engineering, that are embedded in the facility’s precast walls and ceilings.
Berg crews faced a huge challenge in maintaining the timeline of the project, as Hurricanes Charley, Frances and Jeanne forced time-consuming preparations for each storm.
