Summary: Serving 7,500 military members, Luke Air Force Base is home to the Air Force’s largest fighter wing – many of whom are bachelor airmen. The Air Force’s Vision 2020 Plan has provided a new direction in base housing and Luke AFB single airmen now have the luxury of their own sleeping rooms in a new 108-room dormitory built by Straub Construction.
The repetitive nature of the design of the 108-rooms that comprise the dormitory lent itself particularly well to the prefabrication of the electrical, which allowed Berg to meet the fast-track schedule. Berg’s Detailing Department coordinated requirements for connecting the main building with the 15Kv distribution and central plant after Berg’s Service Division installed temporary power for the general contractor at the site.
