Summary: The Midnight Mission has been providing emergency overnight lodging, a dayroom-respite center, meals, showers and shaves, clothing, mail service and food boxes that are the lifeline for many of the city’s poor.
A new 147,500-s.f. facility was envisioned to serve over 30% more individuals than the existing facility allowed, and is already exceeding this targeted goal. The impetus to complete the project was more profound given that construction coincided with a heated mayoral race, which emphasized the immense need to provide a new Midnight Mission that would furnish more than just a warm bed and a hot meal. |
