Summary: The increased attendance at the Phoenix International Raceway fueled the need to comfortably accommodate the fans. This sparked a $20-million expansion at the Turn One Grandstand, headed up by general contractor Howard S. Wright Construction, a company with whom Berg has successfully completed projects in California, Nevada, Oregon and Arizona.
The design-build effort included architect/electrical engineer DLR Group, with Bergelectric in a design-assist role. The additions featured 14,000 new grandstand seats, 25 luxury suites, a regional kitchen and suite club, new restrooms, a central production kitchen for race-day catering and a new warehouse.
