Summary: The $47-million Rapids Stadium is the cornerstone of an expansive sports, entertainment and retail complex, known as Prairie Gateway. The stadium was flexibly designed by HOK Sport to seat up to 26,000 as an entertainment venue, while seating 18,000 for sports events. In addition to the stadium, the expansive sports park includes 24 youth and professional practice fields.
Compressing the original 16-month, stadium-construction schedule into 13 months provided cost savings across the board. General contractor Turner Construction attributes this accomplishment to expert planning and preparation, a strong team of subcontractors – with Berg key among them – and favorable weather conditions that enabled the team to shave three months off the schedule.
