Summary: Although Scottsdale Quarter might be said to be riding on the coat tails of her sister development, Nelsen Partners will be providing a completely different architectural look with more diverse designs slated for the four buildings that will comprise Phase I. In addition to the retail and restaurant space that will be initially constructed by Whitting-Turner Contracting Company, the three-phase development will ultimately include a luxury movie theater, boutique hotel, high-end office / hotel space and over 400,000 square feet of residential units.
Performing in the rapid-fire 10-month schedule required the assistance of several Berg departments. With over 900,000 square feet of space in the parking garages alone, Berg’s Prefabrication Department played a major role in keeping the fast-track schedule on course. By prefabricating the conduit and duct banks for the grocery store, restaurant and parking / retail structures, Berg crews were able to accelerate the installation well beyond the standard construction time.
