Summary: This major addition to the San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC) provided classrooms, collaborative research and office spaces, and an auditorium for the SDSC’s growing program, as well as a new, 7,000 s.f. supercomputer machine room and visualization lab. “Research neighborhoods” of offices surround flexible meeting and circulation spaces, supporting and promoting the interdisciplinary, team-based culture of the Center. The building was designed with a high-performance skin, naturally ventilated offices, daylighting, sunshading, and high-efficiency mechanical systems. These sustainable strategies will help it achieve reduced energy use by 60%, a LEED Silver rating and provide a healthy, collaborative environment for this world-class institution.

Bergelectric was also involved with the construction of the original Super Computer facility that was completed in 1997.
