Summary: The first phase of this master plan included The Foundation Tower for Advanced Medicine, designed by RBB Architects. This 164,000-s.f. facility was constructed by Millie and Severson and includes 144 patient beds over a lower level of critical hospital services.
With feeders from the main power plant that were previously located in the area slated for the new facility, the project required heavy coordination from all trades to relocate the power distribution system without interrupting power supply to the existing hospital facility.
Berg drew on past experiences with projects like Cedar Sinai’s new imaging center and the City of Hope Replacement Hospital to provide substantial value engineering for the project. Allowing for future growth, Berg made extensive recommendations for alternate fixtures, materials and methods, as well as streamlined power distribution systems. |
