A Modern Tower for a Technological Giant

The fast-track delivery of Sony’s 11-story North American headquarters and parking structure—which  now provides space for executives, marketing staff and product-development engineers—required the new building to be constructed in 20-months. Berg prepared a complete electrical layout of the proposed facility during the bidding process based on architectural floor plans and electrical drawings that consisted solely of a single-line diagram and site-distribution plan.

Berg’s lighting software allowed the preconstruction team to prepare photometric 3D drawing that take into account furniture, light reflections and room layout to determine the best-suited lighting plan. Berg created 34 drawings for lighting, electrical and fire alarm that were backed up by a corresponding 42-page detailed estimate.  As the design build engineer, Berg took the lead in both power and lighting drawings, as well as conceptual estimates that locked in quantities and pricing for the $150-million facility.
