St. Johns Keck Diagnostic & Treatment Center

Extensive Use of BIM In Santa Monica

At  the new Saint John’s Health Center Diagnostic and Treatment Building, Bergelectric’s use of 3-D design significantly reduced field installation time and helped get the $185 million construction cost back on track.  Our BIM Department was instrumental in working out potential installation conflicts with our NavisWorks3-D imaging/design software, which facilitated a smooth construction process with other trades in the field.

The extremely complex building included  19 specialty medical rooms for such high-tech diagnostics as MRI, CT Scan and Digital Imaging. Bergelectric coordinated closely with general contractor McCarthy Building Co. and electrical engineer Arup, to ensure the accuracy of construction documents for the 268,250-s.f. facility that required specialty lighting and electrical rooms, as well as new electrical service to feed a variety of power needs – from HVAC and daily operations to emergency back-up.
