Design Assist, Mixed-Use Facility in Downtown San Diego
Berg further tuned its high-rise expertise on the Treo@Kettner project, a $57 million, 27-story tower undertaking. Spanning a full city block and measuring in at just under 600,000 s.f., this 328-unit property features six stories of town homes, retail space and three levels of parking. Residences consist of row homes, flats and two-story lofts in the stepped building, while the 24-story residential tower, which required intensive installation preplanning, offers traditional singe-story units.
The main electrical and communications distribution lines-encased in a 3 to 7-foot-thick concrete foundation – were installed 30 feet below street level and completed within a 3-day window. Berg Project Manager Dave Edmondson described the project as a fast-paced, design-assist effort that required the electrical detailing and fabrication staff, working in tandem, to prefabricate as much as possible off site in order to accelerate the installation schedule.
