Healthcare Campus for our Vets

At the new Veteran’s Administration Hospital and Medical Center at the Fitzsimons Campus in Aurora, Colorado, Bergelectric has been working in a design assist role with general contractors Kiewit-Turner JV and Cator Ruma & Associate Engineers.  The building, designed by Denver’s own H + L Architects, provides 1.4 million square feet of hospital, clinical, emergency and nursing home care for America’s Veterans. A combination of surface and structured parking for 2,300 vehicles is also provided at the facility.  The campus is comprised of 14 unique structures, all fully modeled (Architecture, Structure, and MEP) in Revit® BIM. All the buildings were subject to the VA’s Physical Security requirements.

Bergelectric’s BIM Department was on overdrive at the beginning stages of this massive healthcare campus—working on-site with other trades to coordinate the installation ahead of the field crews.  “A project this massive requires extensive coordination by all trades early in the construction process,” said Bergelectric’s General Foreman.  Bergelectric’s field management staff managed over 100 electricians on site during the peak of the construction schedule, and leaned heavily on their experiences with similar large-scale hospital facilities to fine-tune their installation processes.
